John, appreciate your thoughts here. You bring up a GREAT issue about building something around another company's (Facebook or Twitter) technology platform. I think companies should own the url and maybe throw up absolute basics for the campaign, but I'm leaning to that being the end of it in most cases.

Your family has a terrific tradition, and what a wonderful cause to support. I'm with you in taking at least 10% of holiday spending and putting it to good use.

Have you checked out the interviews I've done with founders of Pangea Organics, RecycleBank, Give Something Back, DoGood Headquarters and Baking for Good? http://causecapitalism.com/category/interviews/.

Who else would you like to hear interviewed? Thanks again, John.

I think the Campbell's cause mini-sites also help to build the Campbell brand. The narrow focus of the cause site helps motivate people to become part of the conversation. Also, mini-sites don't need to cost cost a lot.
I think it would be silly of Coke to develop YouTube and Facebook campaigns and not also own the campaign name domains at least to re-direct. And what if Facebook does start charging or runs further afoul with privacy issues.
As for philanthropy... This is the third year our extended family opted to donate to charity rather than buy presents. With what would have bought a few ipods, my donation (to Greg Mortenson's Central Asia Institute/a>) will pay a full time teacher to teach girls in a rural school in Afghanastan for half a year. Can you imagine how much good could be accomplished with even 10% of our total Christmas retail spending?
Olivia, when are you going to start interviewing for CauseCapitalism? I'd love to hear some of the details about successful entrepreneurs making a difference in a non-profit way.
